Q: Does natural medicine work for my pet?
A: Yes. In fact we think it works better because there isn't any emotional baggage in the way of healing. Traditional veterinary medicine plays an important role too. We say both should be complimentary. A serious infection or injury requires a vet.
Q: What is the difference between holistic medicine and traditional veterinary medicine?
A: Traditional (or allopathic) veterinary medicine says that symptoms are caused by illness, whereas holistic medicine sees the symptoms as the body's way of fighting back and seeks to stimulate this process and accelerate it.
Q: What is the downside of traditional medicine?
A: Western medicine usually looks at a disease in isolation, and a "cure" is to remove or suppress its symptoms as quickly as possible. In other words, a "quick-fix" is the norm. Very often antibiotics are prescribed to treat not only bacterial infections, but viral as well. However, frequent use of antibiotics can greatly weaken a pets' immune system, which will lead to more health problems down the road. Q: Why are Herbs used in animal healing?
A: First, all medicine comes from the earth. Herbs have been used for animals and people to prevent / alleviate disease for thousands of years. They are a natural way of dealing with the health of body and mind. Herbal formulations on our site support the immune system, help remove toxins from the body, and maintain self-regulation and balance. Second, science has been unable to isolate and name every single chemical component; yet herbs remain a complex mixture of vitamins, minerals, and carbohydrates, as well as trace elements and healing agents. In an inexplicable way, they combine to synergistically produce healing.
Q: How are you different?
A: There are many reasons. First, strength through diversity of brands we sell. Second, we are not a bargain shopping channel. Our dedication is quality. We deliver ethical values and honesty. Third, we list only world-class products where we personally know the formulator, who must demonstrate a track record of science and successful treatment. Fourth, we are not a technology company where e-commerce and optimization are the primary goals. Instead we care more about animal healing because we are pet owners ourselves with many years in natural medicine. Finally, we are forward thinking. We search the planet for new products to remain on the leading edge of animal science and holistic treatment modalities.
Q: What do you mean by Hassle-Free Returns?
A: Its really about our attitude. We think our products are great but if you aren't 110% satisfied that's not a problem for us. We'll give you a merchandise return number (MRN) and you can send back what you bought. We can refund your money or give you a store credit, and during this process we'll be trying to help you in any way we can.
Q: Can I really trust you with my order and my credit card information?
A: Yes you can! Brilliant Health International was founded on truth, honesty and integrity. We plan on being here as long as there are animals we can help. E-commerce is a mature industry today with about 28 million stores on the net. There are many shady operators to be sure but we are not one of them. We use only state-of-the-art, world-class security software to make sure your credit card information is protected and secure. See Secure Shopping To date we've processed and shipped hundreds of orders without incident. Its very critical for us to earn and keep your trust.
Q: Are your shipping prices too high?
A: Lets be honest FREE is best, nobody wants to pay for shipping and we understand that so we try to keep our rates at rock bottom to remain affordable; in fact just enough to cover our costs. Like higher gas prices at the pumps, shipping companies such as UPS, Purolator and FedEx respond by passing new surcharges onto us. We absorb most of them and that's what you never see.
Q: Who are you?
A: Two partners own and operate this business: William Greenbaum and Tom Lawless. We are pet owners ourselves and we come from the professional side of the natural medicine industry in the United States and Canada, (meaning we sold to Naturopathic Doctors prior to animals) and collectively we have more than 20 years of executive management, manufacturing and distributing experience.
Q: Do you have a veterinarian on your team?
A: Yes, in fact a rather special Holistic Vet from Washington State. Her name is Dr. Anna Maria Gardner, M.A. Vet MB MRCVS, she is our science and animal medicine adviser.
Dr. Gardner was educated at Cambridge University and moved to the United States many years ago and has a busy practice in Port Townsend, Washington. Dr. Gardner has written extensively about natural medicine for animals and is extremely knowledgeable about holistic healing modalities such as homeopathy, herbs, acupuncture, energy medicine, Reiki, healing touch, nutrition, and massage. She consults with us extensively and reviews our products for safety, efficacy, treatment, side effects, and quality to ensure that whatever we are doing and whatever we are offering remains at the highest standards and world-class.
Q: What is homeopathy?
A: Homeopathic medicines are used to treat many acute health conditions such as allergies, stress, arthritis pain, muscle pain, etc. They are therapeutically active micro-doses of mineral, botanical and biological substances. They are reliable and safe drugs, therefore considered by many as an excellent first choice when self-medicating. Homeopathy has been used for more than 200 years, building a remarkable safety record and generating a great body of knowledge.
Q: Can animals be treated with homeopathic medicines?
A: Yes. For more than 150 years, homeopathic medicines have been used to treat pets, farm animals, competitive animals and even wild animals. More and more breeders and animal lovers use it every day.
Q: Do homeopathic medicines have an expiration date?
A: Most homeopathic medicines have a 5-year expiration date.
Q: Why do my pets symptoms seem to worsen when using natural medicine?
A: Its temporary. When using homeopathics or other natural remedies for the first time, your pet's condition sometimes worsens before getting better. Its medically called 'signs of progress' and it means that the body is fighting back and re-correcting the biology on the way to healing. It is brief followed by definite improvement.
Q: What are flower essences?
A: Flower essences are natural remedies which can be used to treat both animals and people, and are particularly effective in treating emotional imbalances and behavioral problems such as anxiety, fear or aggression, etc.
Q. How long will flower essence therapy take?
A: In most cases, one course of treatment of up to 6 weeks will be needed. Occasionally, animals need long-term, low level maintenance of Flower Essences therapy. Most animals will show improvement within the first two weeks of treatment. No treatment is 100% effective in all cases, but it is a very rare animal that does not respond at all to flower essences therapy.
Q: What is Rescue Remedy and how did it come to be?
A: Rescue Remedy was created in the early 1920's by Dr. Edward Bach, a British Physician who saw disease as an end product; a physical manifestation of unhappiness and fear. He looked to homeopathy as a healing system and worked with flower essences to develop his famous 38 Bach Flower Remedies® Rescue Remedy was originally created as is an emergency preparation for stress. It uses Star of Bethlehem, Clematis, Impatiens, Cherry Plum and Rock Rose.
Q: What is aromatherapy?
A: Aromatherapy is healing by scent. Its the use of pure essential oils that help to balance the body, mind and emotions of both people and pets.
Q: How many dogs are kept as pets in the country?
A: According to the ASPCA about 60 million dogs and about 75 million cats are owned in the United States, which means about 60% of all households have a pet.
Q: What is GMP? I see it everywhere on your site.
A: GMP is a quality control process that monitors the manufacturing of a drug or natural product from raw materials to finished product. It is a seal of quality assurance and trust.
Q: Which herbs are unsafe for pets?
A: There are several: garlic, undiluted tea tree oil, wormwood, white willow bark (toxic to cats), comfrey, pennyroyal.
Q: What is Cruelty Free?
A: Ethical treatment of animals is the short and skinny but it really means we absolutely adore animals, dogs, cats and horses, (all types really) and nothing that we sell or do has anything to do with lab testing, anything unethical and we wont tolerate any supplier whose manufacturing process harms animals, period.
Q: Why Organic?
A: Organic foods are free of anything genetically modified (GMO), made completely without chemicals, pesticides, nothing. Generally its more expensive because produce is earth-friendly and thus more time and care is needed to produce.
Q: What does Fair Trade mean?
A: It means people are being paid a fair wage for proper working hours and no exploitation of workers in any country, particularly the thrid world and poorer countries. People who make stufff are paid properly and can provide for their families.
Q: What Free Range?
A: Think processed meat from cattle in pens or chicken farms and you get the idea. Run, run, run. Anything that moves in the open is considered free range and its way healthier by far.Reason? Well in cramped pens the stress levels of animals rises and this wrecks the health of the animal and its meat bi-product. Not good.
